Smateria is a women-owned and operated business founded in 2006 by two Italian ladies with shared
passions for creativity and sustainability. Smateria means to transform a material and give it new life.

Our originality lies within the unconventional materials that we use. At Smateria we create bags and
accessories made from recycled, upcycled and repurposed materials.

Our IKI collection is made of industrial packaging waste that would usually be burnt and released into
the air that we breathe. We transform this plastic into a new and durable material for our IKI collection.

Nylon NET is a multipurpose material mainly used for fishing or in the construction field. We love to play with the different colours and layer them to obtain endless combinations of colours and textures.

All items are 100% ethically made with an Italian flair, using high quality and durable materials.

Today, Smateria is a thriving ethical brand and we are proud of our journey. We have our own micro-factory which allows us to control the production process and conditions, to never compromise on quality and to provide decent human working conditions.
